A rewarding opportunity awaits for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support high school-aged students in a dynamic, contract-based educational setting near the New Orleans area. This full-time position is tailored for those passionate about fostering accessible learning while working Monday through Friday in alignment with the academic calendar. The duration of the role spans from ASAP through May 27, 2027, offering stability and continuity throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school environment, with specific VOCO platform proficiency required EIPA score of 4.0 (both performance and written) OR current RID or NIC certificationwith written exam completionrequired Active listing on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health) Experience working with high school-aged students strongly preferred Commitment to maintaining compliance with credentialing and documentation requirements within set timelines
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver real-time interpreting services through VOCO technology for high school students within various educational settings Foster communication and inclusivity among students, faculty, and staff Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, assemblies, and other school activities Collaborate closely with educational teams to adjust services according to student needs and progress Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times This role is ideal for interpreters interested in making a significant impact in secondary education while utilizing their specialized skills in a supportive, technology-forward environment.
