Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding contract assignment as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school environment, providing essential communication support to a student on a 1:1 basis. This full-time opportunity spans the academic year, from August 10th, 2026, through June 17th, 2027, offering a chance to make a meaningful impact throughout the school year.

Key Qualifications:

Valid Maryland Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license Strong expressive and receptive American Sign Language (ASL) skills Experience in educational settings or with school-age children preferred Ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and staff Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to student success

Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 interpreting services for a designated student, ensuring consistent and clear communication during classes and school activities Facilitate participation and engagement in both academic and extracurricular settings Collaborate with educators and support staff to implement best practices in communication access and inclusion Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Adapt interpreting techniques and approaches as needed to meet student needs This contract position offers the distinct opportunity to develop your professional skills as part of a supportive academic team, while playing a vital role in promoting accessibility and educational achievement for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
