Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a vibrant educational environment supporting K-12 students in a 1:1 setting. This full-time contract position, beginning as soon as possible and extending through late May 2027, centers on providing vital communication access so students can thrive both academically and socially. You'll collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to facilitate seamless communication for a student who is deaf or hard of hearing. Your skills will directly support inclusive education and help foster a positive learning experience.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter EIPA score of 3.0 or higher required Prior experience working with children in educational settings preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt interpreting methods to student needs across K-12 grade levels Demonstrated professionalism and reliability
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for an assigned student throughout the school day Assist with classroom instruction, assemblies, extracurricular activities, and other school events Act as a communication bridge between the student and staff, faculty, and peers Collaborate with education specialists to support Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards for interpreting within a school environment Stay current on best practices, continuing education, and interpreting techniques
