Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting students as an ASL Interpreter in a K-12 school setting. In this rewarding contract position, you'll facilitate communication and foster inclusion for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, collaborating closely with teachers, staff, and families. This role offers the chance to empower students throughout their academic journeys while utilizing your American Sign Language expertise each day.
Qualifications:
Current certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), such as RID-NIC or
NAD IV/V, OR A
score of 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), plus a passing score on the EIPA written exam Proficiency in American Sign Language and excellent receptive/expressive skills Experience working with K-12 students (preferred, not required) Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and fostering a supportive classroom environment Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal abilities
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities between students and staff using American Sign Language Deliver clear, contextually appropriate interpretations in one-on-one and group settings Collaborate with educational teams to meet individualized needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students Support students integration and participation in academic and extracurricular activities Stay up-to-date with best practices in educational interpreting
