In this lively and impactful role, you will facilitate clear, accurate, and culturally sensitive interpretation services in on-site settings. Your expertise will empower diverse communities by ensuring their voices are heard and understood in critical interactions. Responsibilities Provide real-time interpretation for Somali-speaking clients and service providers during on-site appointments, meetings, and community events Facilitate communication through interpretation methods such as consecutive interpretation, simultaneous interpretation, and over-the-phone interpretation when needed Maintain professional ethics by ensuring confidentiality, impartiality, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions Assist with educational or community-based interpretation tasks to support understanding across language barriers Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth communication flow and accurate message delivery in diverse settings Support translation of documents or materials from Somali to English and vice versa when required Demonstrate cultural competency by understanding community norms and sensitivities to foster trust and effective communication Requirements Multilingual proficiency in Somali and English, with demonstrated fluency in both languages Proven experience in interpretation services, including consecutive and simultaneous interpretation techniques Strong understanding of professional ethics related to confidentiality and impartiality in interpretation roles Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey messages clearly and accurately under pressure Familiarity with cultural nuances relevant to Somali communities to enhance interpretive accuracy and rapport-building Experience with over-the-phone interpretation platforms is a plus but not mandatory Educational background or training in linguistics, translation, or related fields preferred but not required Embark on a rewarding journey where your language skills foster understanding, build bridges across cultures, and support community well-being.
