Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make an immediate and lasting difference in a high school student's educational journey by providing one-on-one, in-person sign language interpretation for the full academic year. This contract role offers a fulfilling opportunity to work closely with a student who is deaf and has recently transitioned to the school, ensuring they receive the communication access and support they deserve. As an essential member of the educational team, you will facilitate clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers, promoting full participation in classroom activities. This full-time position offers the rewarding challenge and satisfaction of supporting a student who values face-to-face interaction. Your presence will provide stability as the school transitions from substitute interpreters to dedicated, consistent support.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience working as a sign language interpreter, preferably in educational settings Understanding of Deaf culture and advocacy for accessible communication Ability to collaborate with educators and staff to tailor communication strategies Certification as a sign language interpreter (or equivalent credentials) Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to student needs
