Language Resource Center (LRC) is seeking a dependable Freelance Spanish Medical Interpreter (Independent Contractor) to provide on-site shift interpreting services for a valued healthcare client in Durham, North Carolina . This opportunity is ideal for experienced medical interpreters who are available to work weekday shifts and are committed to providing high-quality language access in a healthcare setting. Position Overview As a freelance Spanish Medical Interpreter, you will provide accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation between Spanish-speaking patients and healthcare providers. You will serve as an integral member of the care team, helping ensure clear communication while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and impartiality. What We're Looking For We are seeking interpreters who: Are fluent in both Spanish and English. Are dependable, punctual, and have excellent time management skills. Demonstrate professionalism in every interaction. Are available to work weekday shifts in the Durham area. Follow all Language Resource Center policies and expectations. Adhere to all client policies and procedures. Uphold the National Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Interpreters. Maintain patient confidentiality and provide accurate, impartial interpretation. Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, patients, and our scheduling team. Preferred Qualifications Our healthcare client strongly prefers candidates who have one or more of the following: Medical interpreter certification (CCHI, NBCMI, or equivalent) Completion of a recognized medical interpreter training program (40-hour or equivalent) Previous experience interpreting in hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare settings Knowledge of medical terminology in both English and Spanish Reliable transportation and the ability to consistently report for scheduled shifts Why Join Language Resource Center?
