Job Description

Step into a meaningful role for the 2026-2027 academic year as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting elementary students. This full-time, contract position offers you the chance to foster communication and learning for students in an engaging educational setting. The assignment spans from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027, operating weekdays from 7:00am to 2:30pm (35 hours per week), and is exclusively on-site. Your skills and expertise will ensure equal access to learning, working closely with a dedicated student at an elementary school and collaborating with educators and staff. The right candidate is motivated, punctual, and passionate about supporting student success.
Qualifications:
Licensed Sign Language Interpreter EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, or RID certification (either qualifies, RID accepted in place of EIPA) Previous experience in a school setting or with youth preferred Reliable transportation and commitment to onsite support (no remote/virtual interpretation) Professional demeanor and team-oriented mindset
Key Responsibilities:
Provide accurate, effective interpretation services between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) for students, staff, and faculty Arrive before student arrival each morning, ready to begin as the school day starts Maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and ethical standards at all times Support student participation in academic and extracurricular activities Collaborate with teachers and staff to adapt communication as needed Address communication needs in various classroom situations and school events This opportunity allows you to make a difference in a students life in a supportive school environment while continuing to grow in your interpreting career.
