Desired Experience and Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and educational interpreting best practices Experience working as a sign language interpreter, preferably in school or pediatric settings Hold appropriate interpreting certification or credentials (such as EIPA, RID, state licensure, or equivalent) Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to facilitate communication Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Compassion, flexibility, and patience in working with young learners

Responsibilities:

Provide daily sign language interpretation between the 1st grade student and teachers, classmates, and school staff Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities Adapt interpreting to accommodate age-appropriate language and content Support the students participation in all aspects of the school day Maintain confidentiality and comply with ethical standards for educational interpreters Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure student success
