9600261-28166 Job Description Embark on a rewarding contract assignment supporting students with hearing needs as a Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an onsite-only position serving Troutman Elementary. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, with a total of 35 hours weekly (7:00am2:30pm daily), from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027. Youll play a vital role in student communication, ensuring accessibility and inclusion throughout the academic day.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Licensed Sign Language Interpreter with an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, or RID certification (either qualifies you for this role) Previous experience interpreting in an educational or K-12 school setting is highly valued Professional commitment to prompt daily attendance, arriving before student arrival Strong receptive and expressive American Sign Language skills Collaborative mindset to work effectively within a school community
Responsibilities:
Provide direct interpreting services one-on-one for a designated student at Troutman Elementary Facilitate clear communication between the student, staff, and peers during class, school activities, and transitions Support student learning and social participation by accurately interpreting spoken and signed content Maintain ethical standards of interpreting in line with student confidentiality and school policies Coordinate with educators and support staff to promote accessibility Remain attentive and ready for student arrival each morning This assignment offers a consistent schedule and the opportunity to make a positive long-term impact.
