In this full-time, on-site role, youll be based in a vibrant school community in Carson City, Nevada, collaborating closely with teachers, staff, and students to ensure equal access to learning and school activities. Your ability to communicate fluently in American Sign Language (ASL) and English will be invaluable as you provide seamless interpretation for classroom lessons, school events, and social interactions. Youll be a vital link in fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere where every student can thrive.
What You'll Do:
Deliver accurate, impartial ASL interpretation for instruction, meetings, and school functions Bridge communication between students, educators, and peers to encourage engagement Support access to educational opportunities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism Collaborate with teachers and educational teams, adapting your approach to diverse student needs Promote participation during classroom activities, assemblies, extracurriculars, and field trips Record and report on interpreting services to the educational team Uphold a respectful, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students
Qualifications:
Certification, licensure, or authorization to interpret in Nevada Proficiency in ASL and English Background check and compliance with school-district requirements Prior experience interpreting in educational or pediatric settings preferred Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills Knowledge of educational interpreting practices and Deaf culture
Preferred Experience:
Direct 1:1 educational interpreting Experience with IEPs and multidisciplinary teams Support for Deaf or hard-of-hearing students of varied ages and communication styles Bring your expertise and compassion to a school community that values accessibility and inclusion.
