Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Looking to make a difference in the educational experience of middle school students? Apply your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter in a supportive school environment. This part-time contract role spans from now until late May 2027, with a consistent afternoon schedule from 12:00 to 3:30pm CST. The position is based near Dewey, OK, and primarily works one-on-one with a middle school student, offering a rewarding opportunity to foster communication and inclusion. Preferred candidates will possess a minimum EIPA score of 3.5 and have strong experience providing interpretation services in educational settings. While onsite presence is preferred to maximize engagement and support, there is an openness to virtual interpreting (VOCO) for qualified applicants.
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 required Prior experience as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter Strong command of American Sign Language and familiarity with educational vocabulary Comfortable working 1:1 with middle school students Ability to adapt to classroom needs and school culture Open to onsite work, with VOCO options considered for exceptional candidates
Responsibilities:
Provide accurate sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities Facilitate expressive and receptive communication between student, peers, and staff Support the student's access to academic material in a variety of subjects Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to tailor strategies for student success Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions This part-time role allows for meaningful work each afternoon and may transition to full-time in the future, opening additional opportunities for professional growth.
