Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity where your skills as a Sign Language Interpreter make a meaningful impact in the lives of middle school students. An educational setting near Nowata, OK, is seeking a dedicated professional to provide essential one-on-one interpreting services. This part-time position runs weekdays from 12:00 to 3:30 pm CST and offers the possibility of expanding to full-time in the future, ensuring flexibility for your schedule. Both on-site and virtual (VOCO) options are considered—however, on-site availability is preferred.
Key Qualifications:
Hold a current EIPA score of at least 3.5 or higher Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school environment Ability to facilitate clear, accurate communication between students and staff Adaptable and eager to support students' educational and social development Comfortable working independently in a dynamic middle school environment Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver one-on-one interpreting services for a middle school student throughout the school day Translate spoken language to ASL and vice versa in classroom and school activities Support access to the full curriculum, helping foster an inclusive learning atmosphere Participate in team meetings and collaborate with educational staff as needed Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
