Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make an impact working with middle school students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a rewarding contract position. Located near Albany, OR, this opportunity lets you immerse yourself in an educational environment where communication access is paramount. Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of college (at least 72 semester credits in academic coursework), an Associate's degree or higher, or a passing score on the Highly Qualified exam Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting for students in K-12 settings, preferably at the middle school level Proficiency in both voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice interpreting Comfortable working collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Flexible, responsible, and eager to adapt to various classroom settings
Responsibilities:
Provide accurate, effective sign language interpretation for students in a middle school classroom setting Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities as well as special events and meetings as needed Facilitate clear communication between students, staff, and peers Collaborate with educators to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations for optimal learning Support student access to curriculum, extracurricular activities, and school events Maintain ongoing records of services provided and uphold ethical standards for educational interpreters This role offers full-time hours - 7 hours daily (35 hours per week) - giving you the ability to immerse yourself in a school community and build strong connections.
