9644810-97322 Job Description Embark on a meaningful contract role supporting young learners as a Sign Language Interpreter in an elementary school setting. Situated near Albany, OR, this opportunity is ideal for passionate professionals who thrive in environments where their unique communication skills directly impact student success. This in-person position is specifically intended for a kindergartener who is new to sign language, making an on-site interpreter essential for fostering understanding and inclusion throughout the school year.
Work Schedule:
33 hours per week, structured around school hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday:
7:15 AM 2:15
PM Wednesday:
7:15 AM 12:15 PM Contract begins September 9, 2026, and concludes June 15.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience as a sign language interpreter, preferably in a school setting Ability to adapt to the learning pace of young students, particularly those new to sign language Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students Flexibility and sensitivity in working with students who may be using, or potentially using, assistive hearing devices
Key Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and effective interpretation between spoken English and ASL for a kindergarten student throughout the school day Facilitate communication in academic, social, and extra-curricular contexts as needed Adapt interpreting methods to meet the evolving needs of a young learner Collaborate with educators to ensure optimal engagement and accessibility Imagine making a lasting difference for a student at a pivotal moment in her educational journey.
