May specialize in specific subject area. Job Description Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Interprets spoken passages from one language into another. In consecutive interpreting listens to complete statements in one language, interprets to second, and interprets responses from second into first language. Expresses either approximate or exact interpretation. Receives briefing on subject to be discussed prior to interpreting session. Responds to all customers, sets priorities, gives reports and maintains confidentiality. Provide information, education and technical assistance for customers in order to help facilitate effective use of language services. Maintains positive working relations with all customers and peers including verbalizing complaints or concerns through appropriate channels and accepting assignment Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive. Minimum Requirements Education - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in related field of study preferred. Experience - One (1) year directly related work experience preferred In Lieu Of NA Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses Effective 12/01/23 incumbents will be required to obtain ASL certification, accepted by RID & SCAD, by 12/31/2025 to meet minimum competency requirements. Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Proficiency in speaking English and American Sign Language Achievement of a passing score on a language proficiency test. The test measures proficiency in both English and the language to be interpreted. Basic computer skills Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier) changes or constructive criticism. Ability to attend staff meetings, mandatory training and compliance with rules and expectations of the department. Ability to participate in self-development programs and directed programs for quality control while maintaining competencies.
