Job Description

Exciting opportunity for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support middle school students in a welcoming educational environment near Taylors, SC. This full-time, contract position extends through May 27th, 2027, and is vital to ensuring access and communication for two students in a multi-categorical classroom setting. Both students are deaf and receive instruction together. One student is also on the autism spectrum and displays some behavioral differences, but another team member manages all behavioral plans, so your primary responsibility will be interpreting. If you have CPI or behavioral training, or would like to acquire it, additional support is available to enhance your confidence in the classroom.
Key Qualifications:
Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required) Successful completion of the EIPA written test High school diploma or GED (minimum education level) Ability to pass a comprehensive background check Willingness to review and sign the SLI Code of Ethics as part of onboarding
Responsibilities:
Provide clear, effective sign language interpretation for two middle school students in most classes Accompany students in a multi-categorical setting, fostering accessibility throughout their school day Collaborate with teaching and behavioral support staff while maintaining focus on interpretation duties During a designated class block, support the student with additional behavioral needs by staying present and continuing interpretation services This role offers a consistent, weekday schedule with 37.5 hours of work per weekperfect for interpreters who value meaningful connections and professional growth.
