Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into an engaging educational environment as a Sign Language Interpreter, supporting two middle school students in a multi-categorical classroom setting. This rewarding contract position will run through May 27, 2027, offering full-time hours (37.5 per week) throughout the academic year. In this role, you'll facilitate seamless communication for students, ensuring they fully participate and connect with their learning community. Both students are seated closely together, so your interpreting skills will serve them during shared classes. One student is on the spectrum and may occasionally exhibit behavioral challenges, but rest assured there is a dedicated behavioral support professional already in place. Your focus will remain on interpreting; however, should you wish to enhance your comfort, optional CPI or behavioral training is available through the district. For one block period where the students' schedules differ, you'll accompany the student with the behavioral plan to their separate class.
Desired Qualifications:
EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required per South Carolina state guidelines) Successful completion of the EIPA written test Minimum of a high school diploma Ability to pass a background check Willingness to review and sign the SLI Code of Ethics (can be completed during onboarding) Previous school interpreting experience is advantageous
