RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide accurate, clear, and age-appropriate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students during classroom instruction, activities, meetings, and school events. Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, administrators, peers, and families while maintaining confidentiality and professional interpreting standards. Support students' access to the general education curriculum, including interpreting academic terminology, classroom discussions, assessments, presentations, and STEM-focused instruction. Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related-service providers to help ensure appropriate accommodations and communication access in accordance with each student's educational plan. Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment by encouraging student independence, participation, and self-advocacy while serving as a communication facilitator rather than an instructional substitute.
