Job Description

ContextGlobal is hiring multiple full-time ASL Educational Interpreters to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing staff across Arlington Public Schools (APS). Whether you just finished an Interpreter Training Program and want your first professional placement, or you're an experienced interpreter ready for a stable school-year role, we want to meet you. No certification required. If you've completed an Interpreter Training Program or have equivalent interpreting experience, you're encouraged to apply. This is a school-calendar role. You work the academic year and have summers and school breaks off, with optional supplemental assignments if you want the extra work. Pay & Benefits $1,000 sign-on bonus $35 up to $65 per hour , based on experience and certifications W2 employees preferred; qualified independent contractors also considered Medical, dental, and 401k Annual professional development budget Summers and school breaks off About the Role You'll be placed in an Arlington Public Schools building for the school year (or as needed) and provide 1:1 ASL interpreting for staff who use ASL as their primary mode of communication. What you'll do Provide ASL interpreting across academic, administrative, and social settings within an APS school Voice for ASL users and interpret for colleagues, school personnel, and visiting professionals Collaborate with school staff on assignment context, scheduling, and ongoing support Maintain professional, ethical conduct in all school-community interactions Required Qualifications Completion of an Interpreter Training Program, or equivalent demonstrated interpreting experience Proficient signing and voicing skills Working knowledge of K-12 educational vocabulary Proficiency in ASL and a strong understanding of Deaf culture Adherence to the RID Code of Professional Conduct Preferred Qualifications EIPA score on file, or actively preparing to sit for the EIPA Graduate of an accredited Interpreter Training Program One or more years of K-12 educational interpreting experience Familiarity with K-12 school operations and administrative processes Interview Process We review every application and reach out to qualified applicants within 2 business days to schedule an interpreting screening. Applicants who advance are then invited to a brief video interview with our ASL team. After You're Hired Because this position is in a public school, all hired interpreters complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting, a drug test, and a possible TB screening.
