Exciting opportunity available for an experienced professional passionate about providing sign language interpretation in an educational setting! This school-based contract position spans the entire academic year, starting as soon as possible and continuing through June 4, 2027. Youll work onsite, dedicating your skills to support a single kindergarten student with ASL/SLI needs in a dynamic learning environment.

Qualifications:

Valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III OR Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher (with a passing written test) OR National Interpreter Certification (NIC) or equivalent recognized credential Experience working as an ASL/Sign Language Interpreter, preferably with school-aged children Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and families Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to the students success

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for a kindergarten student within a school environment Ensure the students full access to curriculum, classroom activities, and peer interactions Adapt interpreting techniques to the students learning needs and classroom context Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Collaborate with educators and specialists to best support the students educational journey This is a full-time, onsite role averaging 37.5 hours per week at a single school location, offering stable hours throughout the school year.
