JOB DESCRIPTION

Two students in Kitsap County are starting the year with their own interpreter. We are looking for the two people who will be that interpreter. One is in elementary school, still learning what a classroom is and how to be part of one. The other is in secondary school, navigating lectures, labs, group projects, and the hallway conversations that matter just as much as the lessons. Each of them needs one person who shows up every day, knows how they communicate, and makes sure nothing in their school day gets lost between the teacher's voice and their eyes. This is 1:1 work. You are assigned to one student, on one campus, for the school year. You will know their teachers, their IEP, their friends, and the way they ask a question when they are not sure they should. You are not rotating across buildings or splitting a caseload. You are that student's access to everything happening around them. Sevn Workforce Solutions is hiring for both roles now, for the 2026-2027 school year, with strong potential to renew. You will be a W-2 employee of Sevn placed with a public school district in Bremerton, Washington, working alongside the district's teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing, special education staff, and campus team as a full member of that team.

Term:

Through the end of the 2026-2027 school year, aligned to the district calendar. We staff K-12 special education in 46 states, and educational interpreting is a role we take seriously because the student on the other end of it has no substitute. When you say yes, we build your placement around that student.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Provide full-time, 1:1 ASL interpretation for one assigned student who is deaf or hard of hearing, across the entire school day: classroom instruction, small groups, specials, assemblies, field trips, and the social moments in between Interpret sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign accurately, matching the student's language and communication preferences as documented in the IEP Provide clarification of concepts introduced by the teacher when needed, consistent with the educational interpreter role under Washington standards Prepare for content by reviewing lesson materials, vocabulary, and specialized terminology in advance Collaborate with the classroom teacher, teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, and IEP team as the communication access member of the team Support the student's independence and self-advocacy, adjusting your approach as they grow across the year Follow the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct and the district's confidentiality and reporting expectations Interpret for parent meetings, IEP meetings, and school events involving the student as scheduled

WHAT YOU NEED

Required Fluency in American Sign Language and the ability to interpret in a K-12 setting Washington educational interpreter standard: EIPA Written Test passed, plus either an EIPA performance score of 4.0 or higher or RID National Interpreter Certification (NIC) Ability to pass a Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint background check We will help with Interpreters working toward the full standard. Washington allows districts to place interpreters who have completed the EIPA, meet the limited performance standard, and are actively working toward 4.0. If that is you, tell us where you stand and we will confirm eligibility with the district before you accept. EIPA and certification costs. Sevn covers assessment fees and credentialing for the placement. Relocation to the Puget Sound. Bremerton is a ferry ride from Seattle with a cost of living that lets your income stretch. We have placed travelers in Washington and can walk you through housing. Preferred Prior experience as an educational interpreter in a K-12 setting Experience with elementary-age students (for the elementary opening) or with secondary academic content, including math and science vocabulary (for the secondary opening) Associate's or bachelor's degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or a related field Familiarity with Signing Exact English or other sign systems, as the student's needs dictate

WHAT SEVN PAYS AND PROVIDES

Local plan: $62.00 per hour, paid weekly by direct deposit, on a Monday to Friday school schedule.

Travel plan:

$2,325 per week for candidates who maintain a qualifying permanent tax home more than 50 miles from the assignment and duplicate living expenses.

Everyone gets:

W-2 employment. Sevn withholds and remits federal and FICA taxes. Washington has no state income tax, so more of your rate stays in your pocket. WHY THIS ROLE

Qualified educational interpreters are in short supply across Washington, and districts are competing for a small pool of people who can meet the state standard. That is the reason these two seats exist, and it is why the district is placing a dedicated interpreter with each student rather than stretching one across both.

the student's teachers will know within a week whether access is working, and it will be because of you. If you are already in Kitsap County or across the water in Seattle or Tacoma, this is a full-time school-year position at the top of the regional market for educational interpreting, on a campus you can drive to. If you are coming in from out of state, Bremerton sits on the Kitsap Peninsula with the Olympic Mountains behind it and Seattle a ferry ride away, and it is one of the more affordable places to live on Puget Sound.
