Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a high school student in the Port Angeles, WA area. This full-time, in-person contract opportunity spans from September 3, 2026, through June 15, 2027. As an interpreter, you will make a meaningful impact by facilitating clear, effective communication and ensuring equal access to education in a high school setting. You'll collaborate closely with educators and staff to support the student's unique needs, promoting inclusion and engagement throughout the academic year.
Qualifications and Experience:
Holds a 4.0 or higher on the EIPA, including successful completion of the written exam Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school environment Ability to foster a positive rapport with students and colleagues Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and professionalism in educational settings Strong organizational and time management skills Committed to ongoing professional development
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one sign language interpreting services for a high school student Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities Support the student's communication needs throughout the school day Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and administrators as needed Adapt interpreting style to best support student comprehension and participation Maintain required records and documentation per school guidelines
