9675034-98444 Job Description Bring your passion for accessibility and communication to a vibrant educational setting near Tacoma, WA. This full-time contract opportunity is well-suited for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter who enjoys making a positive difference in students lives daily. Working Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 2:45 pm, you'll join a robust DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) program known for its supportive structure and collaborative environment. In this role, youll partner with middle school students in both DHH and general education classrooms. Your expertise will be instrumental as you provide interpreting in one-on-one settings, facilitate small group interactions, and participate in classroom activities to ensure all students have access to curriculum and communication.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and Sign Language Interpreting EIPA score of 3.5 or higher preferred Prior experience supporting students in educational or comparable settings is advantageous Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with educators, staff, and families Ability to adapt to the needs of individual students and classroom dynamics
Core Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and activities for DHH students in both general education and DHH-specific classrooms Offer small group and one-on-one interpreting support as required Foster inclusive participation and engagement for students who use sign language Work closely with teachers and program staff to promote optimal learning outcomes Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times Experience the rewards of making a meaningful impact while working within a forward-thinking school community.
