9690849-98501 Job Description Bring your passion for American Sign Language into the classroom by guiding and empowering students as they develop their skills in this vital form of communication. A dynamic contract opportunity is available for an experienced Sign Language Interpreter or ASL instructor to serve as a long-term substitute, from January 4th through June 17th, in a role focused on teaching ASL levels 1 through 4 as Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. In this position, you will engage with enthusiastic learners, fostering their interest and proficiency in ASL, and supporting their growth in both language and Deaf culture awareness. The assignment is conveniently located near Olympia, WA, and does not require a traditional teaching certificate. Instead, candidates must qualify for a Conditional CTE Certificate, which will be facilitated by the district.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
Proficiency in American Sign Language with the ability to teach ASL 14 Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or previous instructional work in ASL Familiarity with CTE course structure or willingness to learn Strong communication skills and the ability to inspire students of varying skill levels Flexibility and adaptability to meet classroom needs Eligibility for a Conditional CTE Certificate (district will assist with process)
