Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a fulfilling contract opportunity where your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter can make a lasting difference in a student's educational journey. This full-time position serves a middle school student, providing vital communication access and support throughout the school day. With a set schedule of 7:40am to 3:30pm (37.5 hours per week), you'll become an integral part of the educational team, fostering inclusivity and ensuring every classroom moment counts.
Desired Qualifications:
Current certification or credential to provide Sign Language Interpretation in educational settings Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with strong receptive and expressive skills Experience supporting children, ideally at the middle-school level Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families to support student learning and participation Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards
Responsibilities:
Deliver real-time sign language interpretation between student, peers, and staff to facilitate communication Support the student in accessing classroom instruction, assignments, and discussions Collaborate with educators to adapt and clarify materials as needed Assist in fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment for the student Participate in team meetings and contribute insights to support the student's academic and social development This contract role offers the chance to help a middle school student thrive, while working standard school-day hours in a supportive setting.
