Birch Agency is seeking a qualified and experienced Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support students in grades 68 for the 20262027 school year in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. This is a full-time, in-person position offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' educational success and access to instruction.
Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpreting services for middle school students (grades 68) throughout the school day. Facilitate effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their teachers, peers, and school staff. Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, meetings, and other educational interactions. Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student success. Maintain professional standards, confidentiality, and ethical practices.
Qualifications:
Educational Interpreter certification required. Previous school-based interpreting experience required. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Commitment to supporting student access and inclusion within the educational environment.
