Bryant Park Corporation seeks seasonal stagehands to facilitate summer events at Bryant Park. Located in the heart of midtown, Bryant Park hosts several free arts and culture programs, including Movie Nights, Yoga, Broadway in Bryant Park, and Picnic Performances. Stagehands will work at the Fountain Terrace stage under the direction of a Technical Director. The ideal candidate is affable, competent, and comfortable with performing multiple low/mid-skilled cross disciplinary tasks during the in/out cycles of weekly events, with the opportunity to assist with stage and equipment maintenance in between events. Stagehand duties include, but are not limited to: Setting up and breaking down the backstage perimeter on event days (arranging portable barriers, setting up tents, etc.) Installation and storage of banners and other flying goods Installation and storage of temporary lighting elements Sweeping, mopping, light cleaning, and other duties customary at a performance venue As an outdoor venue, Bryant Park Corporation produces events in a variety of different weather conditions. Stagehands should be prepared to work in extreme heat, rain, dust, and other intense conditions. This is a flexible position with varying hours, contingent upon the number of events being produced on a weekly basis. Shifts are offered at a four-hour minimum, and typically range between 4 -12 hour calls. Calls are most typically offered on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, with occasional weekend work. Stagehands can expect opportunities through the end of September. Compensation starts at $30/hour. Overtime is offered for work over 40 hours per week and for hours worked past midnight.
