Data Center Facility Chief -
Electrical, HVAC, or ELV Location:
Sterling, VA Position Overview The Data Center Facility Chief serves as the Technical Quality Leader for data center facility operations and maintenance at the regional or cluster level. This position will focus on one primary discipline: Electrical, HVAC, or Extra-Low-Voltage/Low-Voltage Systems. The Facility Chief is responsible for establishing and maintaining technical standards, reviewing critical technical plans, leading root-cause analysis for major incidents, sharing operational best practices across sites, driving technical optimization initiatives, and ensuring technical compliance with safety requirements. Through strong technical leadership, this position will help improve operational quality and manage facility-related risks across the region or cluster. The successful candidate must combine strong hands-on technical capabilities with the ability to oversee facility operations from a broader regional perspective. Key Responsibilities Serve as the regional or cluster-level technical authority for the assigned discipline: Electrical, HVAC, or ELV/Low-Voltage Systems. Lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of technical standards and operational procedures, including SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and SCPs. Review technical plans and provide professional guidance for major facility maintenance, upgrades, and operational activities. Lead root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews for major facility failures and operational incidents. Identify technical and operational risks and develop appropriate corrective actions, improvement plans, and system retrofit recommendations. Promote knowledge sharing, operational best practices, and technical alignment across multiple data center sites. Drive facility optimization initiatives related to PUE, system capacity, availability, reliability, and operational efficiency. Provide technical support for safety, compliance, risk management, and facility operational requirements. Support the implementation and ongoing operation and maintenance of technical solutions. Lead technical training, skills development, and knowledge documentation for facility operations teams. Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, HVAC, low-voltage, operations, engineering, and other cross-functional teams. Make accurate technical decisions during emergency situations and other high-pressure operational events. Required Qualifications At least 8 years of infrastructure operations and maintenance experience within data centers or related service providers. At least 3 years of experience serving as a technical lead or technical person in charge. Experience supporting or managing data center facilities with a capacity of at least 40 MW or approximately 10,000 server cabinets. Deep technical expertise in at least one of the following disciplines: Electrical systems HVAC and mechanical systems ELV, weak-current, or low-voltage systems Strong knowledge of system principles, control strategies, parameter analysis, fault diagnosis, emergency recovery, technical standards, risk mitigation, system retrofits, and operational optimization. Strong understanding of data center facility operations, maintenance processes, and relevant industry standards. Ability to independently review technical plans and prepare high-quality technical documentation. Ability to independently complete root-cause analysis, risk assessments, optimization reports, and technical improvement proposals. Hands-on experience with PUE optimization, technical optimization, facility risk inspection, and corrective action implementation. Working knowledge of adjacent facility disciplines and the ability to coordinate across multiple technical teams. Strong English communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical documents, deliver technical presentations, and collaborate with international teams. Strong risk awareness, technical judgment, communication skills, and a data-driven continuous-improvement mindset. Certification Requirements Candidates must hold appropriate qualifications or certifications related to their primary technical discipline:
Electrical:
High-voltage electrical license or an equivalent locally recognized qualification.
HVAC:
Refrigeration, HVAC, or equivalent mechanical systems qualification.
ELV/Low Voltage:
Relevant professional qualification or certification for low-voltage systems.
The following certifications are preferred:
Uptime Institute ATD, ATS, or M&O CDCP or
CDCS PMP FMP
Other relevant data center facility certifications Preferred Qualifications Previous experience supporting overseas or international data center operations. Experience working in high-density data center environments. Experience managing technical standards and operational quality across multiple data center sites. Experience leading technical training and developing facility operations teams. Mandarin proficiency is a plus.

From $80,000.00 per year
