Through our sports leagues and events, we are able to build a bridge into our community, shining the light of God's love throughout the Riverside area. Our Sports Ministry Assistant Director works closely with the Sports Pastor, focusing on overseeing the administrative systems, logistics, registrations, volunteer onboarding, scheduling, and day-to-day coordination that support all leagues and events, as well as developing participants in their faith and connection within the church. This role brings combines a heart and vision for outreach with a high level of administrative skill.

PROGRAM COORDINATION & ADMINISTRATION - 50
% Oversee league administration from registration through season completion, including player registration, team organization, scheduling, communications, and participant records. Build, maintain, and improve administrative systems, workflows, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to increase efficiency and reduce manual processes. Serve as the ministry expert in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canva, League Lobster, Planning Center, and Musco Lighting, using these systems to manage registrations, schedules, communications, events, volunteers, and facilities. Coordinate coach and volunteer onboarding, including applications, Live Scan, training compliance, references, and required documentation. Maintain volunteer records, waivers, compliance documentation, vendor request forms, and other ministry records. Maintain Sports Ministry events, registrations, and volunteer schedules in Planning Center and coordinate event information with the church-wide calendar and Ministry Support Team. Troubleshoot registration, scheduling, technology, and administrative issues and provide timely solutions.
MINISTRY LEADERSHIP - 30
% Build relationships with athletes, families, coaches, referees, volunteers, and the local community to encourage ministry connection and spiritual formation. Recruit, train, and support volunteer coaches and referees while promoting alignment with The Grove's mission and ministry vision. Assist with planning and leading coach meetings and the weekly Sports Ministry Huddle devotion time. Encourage and disciple coaches, referees, and volunteers through support, prayer, faith-based conversations, and spiritual formation. Assist with volunteer appreciation and help cultivate a culture of sportsmanship, teamwork, Christ-like character, and excellence.
OPERATIONS SUPPORT - 10
% Assist the Sports Pastor with field, gym, and facility operations, including field preparation, lining and striping for sports such as soccer, flag football, and softball. Assist with setup and teardown for games, practices, and ministry events, including gym setup for basketball, women's volleyball, and other indoor sports. Help oversee weekend game operations and provide on-site support to coaches, referees, players, and volunteers. Assist with conflict resolution and help ensure games operate safely, efficiently, and according to ministry expectations. Prepare and maintain coaches' bags, equipment, supplies, and other game materials.
OTHER - 10
% Cultivate intimacy with God and growth in Christ-like character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines. Attend team meetings, church all-staff meetings, devotions and trainings.
