kidsActing is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Music Director to join our Advanced Musical Theatre Class for our upcoming season, running November through April. This position is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated group of advanced young performers (ages 10-17) as they develop their skills and prepare for a full musical theatre production. We are looking for a collaborative, adaptable music director who is passionate about both musical theatre and arts education. Responsibilities The Music Director will work closely with the show's Director to help guide students through the musical preparation and rehearsal process.

Responsibilities may include:

Teaching and rehearsing all vocal music for the production Leading music rehearsals with a group of dedicated student performers with a piano Teaching harmonies, parts, diction, musicality, and vocal technique as appropriate Accompanying rehearsals on piano Collaborating closely with the Director Helping students build confidence, independence, and strong ensemble skills Preparing performers musically for staging rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances Playing for tech rehearsals and performances on piano Making appropriate musical adjustments and accommodations to support student learning Maintaining a positive, organized, encouraging rehearsal environment Qualifications Ideal candidates will have: Experience as a Music Director, Accompanist, Vocal Coach, or Musical Theatre Educator Strong piano skills and the ability to accompany singers Ability to sight read for first auditions Knowledge of musical theatre repertoire and styles Experience teaching and working with young performers The ability to teach vocal parts efficiently and clearly for students Strong communication and collaboration skills Excellent organizational and rehearsal-management skills Flexibility and adaptability throughout the rehearsal and production process A passion for helping young performers grow as artists Schedule This is a gig position running from November through April . We rehearse Mondays from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in the Fall, and 5:00 - 8:30 pm in the Spring Specific rehearsal and performance schedules will be provided to selected candidates. While regular availability for scheduled rehearsals is preferred, we are happy to work around the schedule of an ideal candidate, even if this means an adjusted weekly time-frame! Attendance to technical rehearsals and performances in April will be required.
