ABOUT THE SHOW
Sky Patrol is a character-driven docuseries for the Discovery Channel following the aviation, ground, and marine units of law enforcement agencies across multiple Florida counties. Built around real, current incidents — captured through live ride-along coverage during active patrol and the agencies' own FLIR helicopter footage, with additional field sequences produced alongside the officers involved — it's a show about real people doing extraordinary things. Produced by V1 Productions, the aviation-specialist company behind Amazon's Straight and Level.
THE ROLE
The Line Producer is the financial and physical-production lead of Sky Patrol. You own the budget top to bottom, close the deals, and take responsibility for delivering the entire physical production on budget and on schedule across all four counties. You sit at the top of the production chain below the Executive Producers — with the Production Manager and Production Coordinator executing beneath you — and you are the person accountable to the EPs and the network for cost and delivery.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Own, and manage the master production budget end to end — top sheet to detail — across development, prep, the phased county rollout, and post.
Track actuals against budget and produce cost reports, hot costs, and forecasts; manage contingency and solve variances before they become problems.
Negotiate and close crew deals when needed, vendor and equipment contracts, location and facility agreements, and insurance; approve purchase orders and invoices.
Oversee the Production Manager and Production Coordinator and the overall logistics of the mobile, multi-county operation as it stands up county by county.
Own production-level compliance and paperwork — insurance certificates, workers' comp, and coordination with the risk-management framework (SO3 602) and aviation safety protocols.
Manage the agency access agreements and contract contingencies that govern filming with each law enforcement agency, and track Discovery deliverable and financial obligations.
Serve as the primary financial and physical-production point of contact for the Executive Producers and network production management.
Partner with the showrunner and EIC to balance creative ambition against budget and schedule, escalating decisions with clear cost and impact options.
REQUIRED
3+ years line producing unscripted, documentary, or reality television, including multi-location or field-heavy productions.
Deep budget command — building and owning network-scale budgets, cost reporting, hot costs, and actualization.
Proven deal-making and vendor/crew negotiation experience.
Strong working knowledge of production insurance, deal memos, releases, clearances, and network deliverables and compliance.
Calm, decisive leadership of a production team under pressure and across many simultaneous moving parts and remote locations.
Valid driver's license; able to pass an agency background check; willing to be based in / travel across the four Florida counties for run of show.
PREFERRED
Experience on aviation, law enforcement, first-responder, or other high-logistics, safety-sensitive productions.
Familiarity with Discovery / Warner Bros. Discovery budgeting, deliverable, and compliance requirements.
Experience line producing phased or roving multi-location footprints.
Familiarity with formal risk-management frameworks (e.g., ISO 31000-based assessments) and aviation / marine production insurance.
