WAFB, located in Baton Rouge, is seeking a newscast content producer to join our team. Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Newscast Production:
Produce highly engaging, fast-paced, and accurate newscasts. This role specifically entails producing Saturday and Sunday morning newscasts, as well as weekday newscasts as assigned.Content Creation & Writing:
Write clear, concise, and compelling broadcast copy (VOs, VOSOTs, Packages) under tight deadlines, ensuring all scripts adhere to AP style and station standards.Show Development & Pacing:
Craft creative rundowns with strong editorial judgment, dramatic showcase elements, and impactful graphics to keep viewers engaged.Team Collaboration:
Partner closely with anchors, reporters, photographers, and control room staff to execute seamless live broadcasts.Real-Time Decision Making:
Manage breaking news, weather updates, and live field reporter elements dynamically from the control room.Multi-Platform Integration:
Coordinate with the digital team to ensure breaking news and key stories are updated across web, mobile, and social media platforms.Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent writing and editing skills;
- Ability to make sound editorial judgments under deadline; strong fact-checking and verification habits.
- Comfortable collaborating across teams and taking direction while also working independently.
- Flexible schedule willingness (nights/weekends/holidays as news demands).
