A successful Production Control Planner at ICF will combine practical manufacturing-planning experience with an understanding of lean manufacturing, capacity management, Kanban systems, and Theory of Constraints principles. Use customer forecasts, open orders, and demand requirements to develop short- and medium-term shop-loading plans. Schedule work-center capacity by week based on available labor, equipment capacity, material availability, and production constraints. Plan and release jobs to support level loading, efficient workflow, and customer delivery requirements. Identify bottlenecks and capacity constraints using lean manufacturing and Theory of Constraints principles. Create, implement, and maintain Kanban systems for raw materials, components, hardware, and work-in-process inventory. Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors regarding raw materials, hardware, outsourced manufacturing processes, and required completion dates. Monitor material and subcontract availability and take proactive action to prevent production delays. Communicate with customers regarding lead times, order status, capacity considerations, and expected shipment dates. Establish realistic delivery commitments based on material availability, hardware requirements, subcontractor capabilities, work-center capacity, and current shop load. Track planned versus completed production hours by work center each week. Track and report sales and revenue by customers against established plans and forecasts. Develop and maintain production-control KPIs, including leading indicators that identify potential schedule, capacity, material, or delivery issues before they affect customers. Analyze performance against plan and work with operations leadership to implement corrective actions. Maintain accurate planning and scheduling information within the company's ERP or production-management system. Participate in continuous-improvement activities related to scheduling, material flow, inventory, lead-time reduction, and on-time delivery. Key Performance Indicators The Production Control Planner may be accountable for monitoring and improving: Schedule attainment On-time job release On-time delivery Planned versus completed work-center hours Work-center utilization and capacity Bottleneck performance Material and hardware availability Subcontractor delivery performance Past-due backlog Manufacturing lead time Forecast accuracy Sales and revenue performance against plan Kanban inventory accuracy and replenishment performance Required Qualifications One to four years of production planning, scheduling, production control, or related manufacturing experience. Experience planning work-center capacity and coordinating job releases in a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, level loading, Kanban systems, and Theory of Constraints. Ability to interpret customer forecasts, production requirements, routings, lead times, and capacity information. Experience coordinating with suppliers, subcontractors, operations personnel, and customers. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage changing priorities and make sound scheduling decisions in a fast-paced production environment. Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel or similar analytical tools. Preferred Qualifications Production-planning experience in a metal fabrication, machining, welding, forming, or contract-manufacturing environment. Familiarity with fabrication processes such as laser cutting, punching, forming, welding, machining, finishing, assembly, and outsourced processing. Experience developing production dashboards, KPIs, and leading performance indicators. Experience implementing or maintaining pull systems and visual production controls. Associate or bachelor's degree in operations management, supply chain, manufacturing, business, or a related field.
