Job Overview:
We are seeking a 2nd Shift Production Manager to lead and oversee plant-wide production operations during the second shift. This position is the senior on-floor authority during second shift and is responsible for shift-level throughput, meeting ship-date commitments, safe and orderly operations, and coordination with Scheduling and Warehouse to ensure materials, WIP, and work centers are ready for production. This position reports to the Senior Director of Manufacturing. The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on production leader who is comfortable managing multiple work centers, making decisions under time pressure, holding teams accountable, and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and on-time production.
Schedule:
2nd shift 3:30pm - 12:00am. Flexibility to work 5pm-5am and weekends during busy seasons.
Key Responsibilities Operations Management:
Direct 2nd shift execution across all active work centers (screen print, embroidery, DTF, heat transfer, pad print, laser, pickpack) to consistently hit daily production quotas and committed ship dates.
Shift Handoffs & Reporting:
Conduct formal startofshift walkthroughs and handoffs from 1st shift; publish comprehensive endofshift reports tracking output, quota attainment, downtime, and open items.
Workflow & Material Staging:
Partner with Scheduling and Warehouse to resolve capacity or setup conflicts and ensure raw materials, blanks, and WIP are prestaged for production runs.
Team Leadership & Labor Allocation:
Lead, coach, and manage 2nd shift staff, dynamically reallocating labor based on realtime production priorities.
Safety & Compliance:
Enforce safety protocols, PPE usage, LOTO procedures, and company policies, addressing performance issues in partnership with HR.
Quality Assurance & Maintenance:
Enforce SOPs and firstpiece approvals, contain defective product, and oversee daily equipment care while escalating major downtime to Maintenance.
Qualifications Experience:
5+ years in highvolume manufacturing, with 2+ years in a supervisory role and handson operating experience in at least 3 decoration processes (embroidery, silk screen, DTF, heat transfer, pad print, laser).
Track Record:
Proven ability to hit daily throughput quotas, manage WIP flow, and make decisive adjustments in a deadlinedriven environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP software, and production tracking systems.
Availability:
Flexible to work 2nd shift, including peakseason weekend coverage.
Preferred:
Bilingual (English/Spanish), Lean/5S background, crosstraining experience, or prior work in promotional products/ad specialty manufacturing.
