Job Description

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an experienced Production Planning Manager for a long-term opportunity with a manufacturing company located in Tigard, OR. The person in this position will lead the production planning function and oversee a team responsible for scheduling, expediting, order processing, and production documentation.
PAY:
$70,000+/year
DOE Production Planning Manager Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the daily activities of the production planning team, including scheduling, expediting, order processing, and production documentation functions Establish clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability across the planning department Coach, train, and develop team members while identifying cross-training and succession opportunities Build a cohesive planning function by aligning priorities, standardizing processes, and improving communication between planning-related groups Conduct regular planning meetings to review production forecasts, material constraints, capacity requirements, priorities, and potential issues Develop rolling demand forecasts across multiple time horizons to support manufacturing and material requirements Produce short-term production forecasts identifying potential labor, material, and capacity constraints Evaluate production capacity and material feasibility in support of critical RFQs, RFPs, and customer requirements Review open orders against material availability and coordinate with Purchasing when material timing does not align with production needs Monitor production plans against actual performance to manage WIP, reduce overproduction, and improve schedule adherence Coordinate communication between Production, Project Management, Purchasing, and other departments to support customer commitments Evaluate departmental workflows and sequencing to identify and implement process improvements Develop and maintain planning tools that improve efficiency, visibility, responsiveness, and decision-making Establish, track, and analyze departmental KPIs and performance metrics Prepare and present planning, capacity, and production reports to company leadership Adapt production priorities and planning strategies in response to changing customer and operational requirements
Production Planning Manager Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in manufacturing, production planning, supply chain, scheduling, or related operations 2+ years of supervisory or management experience leading a planning, scheduling, expediting, or similar manufacturing team Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, capacity planning, material requirements, and manufacturing workflows Demonstrated experience implementing, operating, or training others on ERP/MRP systems Experience developing or working with manufacturing routings, work instructions, or process instructions Experience with demand forecasting and identifying labor, material, and production capacity constraints Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles; experience in a low-volume or high-mix manufacturing environment preferred Experience working within an ISO-certified manufacturing environment preferred Strong process-improvement mindset with demonstrated critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities Ability to work effectively across Production, Purchasing, Project Management, and other operational departments Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and project-management skills Ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, ambiguity, and changing customer requirements Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; additional relevant manufacturing and planning experience may be considered in lieu of a degree Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. as needed
