Part-Time / Internship Ideal for: College Students & Emerging Media Professionals About Del Rio News Network Del Rio News Network is a growing local media organization focused on telling the stories of Del Rio and the surrounding border community through digital journalism, video, photography, and social media. We're building a modern, community-focused newsroom and are looking for motivated college students who want real, hands-on experience in media production and journalism. You do not need to be an expert. We're looking for people who are dependable, willing to learn, comfortable working in the community, and excited to develop their skills. What You'll Do This is a flexible multimedia position. Depending on your interests and skills, you may work in one or several areas: Reporting Attend local events, meetings, press conferences, and community activities Conduct on-camera interviews Help research local stories Gather information and develop story ideas Report from locations throughout the Del Rio area Assist with writing stories, scripts, and social media content Camera & Production Operate cameras for interviews, events, and news coverage Help set up microphones, lighting, tripods, and other production equipment Capture B-roll and supporting footage Assist with field productions and special projects Video Editing & Digital Media Edit interviews, news packages, short-form videos, and social media content Create content for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and the DRNN website Help turn longer stories into short, engaging digital clips Assist with basic graphics, captions, and other post-production work Who We're Looking For We're especially interested in college students studying communications, journalism, media, marketing, film, photography, political science, or related fields , but your major is not the deciding factor.

You should be:

Dependable and able to communicate professionally Comfortable meeting and speaking with people in the community Interested in journalism, video production, photography, editing, or social media Willing to learn new equipment and software Able to work independently when necessary Available for some assignments outside traditional business hours Able to meet deadlines in a news environment A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required because assignments may take place at different locations throughout the community. Experience Previous journalism or professional media experience is not required . Experience with cameras, photography, CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Canva, Final Cut Pro, or similar programs is a plus, but we're willing to work with candidates who have the right attitude and want to learn. If you've made videos for school, social media, personal projects, student organizations, or just for fun, we'd still like to see your work. Why Join DRNN?
