Are you the kind of person who actually loves the thrill of morning news? Do you thrive on the adrenaline of uncovering exclusive content and the challenge of bringing it to life with demonstrative, high-energy live shots? We're looking for a Weekend Morning Anchor/Reporter who doesn't just read the news—you own it. Whether you're leading the desk on Saturday & Sunday mornings or reporting live from the field with a "show-don't-tell" mindset, you'll be the face of the best morning show in Arizona. This isn't just a seat at a desk; it's a multi-platform partnership where you'll also have the chance to step into the spotlight as a fill-in host for our streaming shows. Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:What You'll Do:
- Lead the morning conversation: Anchor weekend morning newscasts with energy, authenticity, and a conversational style that makes viewers feel like they're waking up with a friend.
- Master the live shot: Deliver demonstrative, active live reports that take the audience to the heart of the story—no "standing in front of a building" here!
- Own the digital space: Engage our audience across all platforms, from social media updates to hosting live Q&A segments and filling in on our streaming shows.
- Drive the editorial engine: Be a newsroom leader who pitches original, promotable story ideas and collaborates deeply with producers to craft a winning show.
- Connect with the community: Get out from behind the desk to build real relationships with news sources and represent the station at local events (yes, you'll be a local celebrity!).
- Craft compelling narratives: Research, write, and edit in-depth content, including hard news, features, and mini-documentaries that matter to Arizona.
What You Bring:
- A "Morning Person" mindset: You bring the energy even before the sun comes up (and you know how to make it look easy).
- Killer live skills: You're a pro at field anchoring and can handle the unpredictability of live TV with authority and calm.
- Digital-first curiosity: You're constantly engaged in the news cycle and know how to pivot your storytelling for streaming and social platforms.
- Community-driven hustle: You're a natural connector who is always looking for the next great story and isn't afraid to pick up the phone.
- Strong editorial judgment: You have a sharp eye for what's "promotable" and the writing skills to make every script sing.
- Technical scrappiness: You can edit and rewrite copy on the fly and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty in the production process.
- Urgency and empathy: You understand the weight of the stories you tell and deliver them with the respect and speed they deserve.
Why You'll Love It Here:
- The best team in the desert: You'll be joining Arizona's top-rated morning news team in a culture that values innovation and collaboration.
- Multi-platform growth: Between anchoring, reporting, and streaming host opportunities, your career path here is wide open.
- Real community impact: You'll be telling the stories that shape the lives of our viewers every single day.
- Innovation-led environment: Gray Media is leading the future of local news—you'll have the tools and the freedom to try new things.
