Local news reporter The Honolulu Star-Advertiser is seeking a reporter with at least three years of daily newspaper experience to join the staff of our local news desk. Evidence of strong deadline writing and critical thinking in previous reporting positions is required, along with a willingness to tackle any kind of assignment — from breaking news to beat-reporting, to enterprise. Flexibility in our ever-evolving newsroom is essential. The local news reporters should be able to take photos and video, and to use social media to enhance and promote their reporting. The successful candidates will develop daily stories, as well as in-depth, longer-range projects. Good time management is critical; database-reporting skills are helpful; and a college degree is preferred.
