WOIO-19 and WUAB-TV are the CBS and CW Affiliates in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as WTCL, the only Telemundo station in the Cleveland DMA. We produce 66.5 hours of live, local news, weather and sports every week and deliver content on a 24/7 basis on our digital platforms on WOIO and 5+ hours of news on WTCL. Job Summary/Description:
WOIO 19 News is looking for an Investigative Reporter. As investigative reporter you must be an organized researcher who can work on multiple projects dealing with wrong doing that has a significant impact on citizens of Kansas. Investigations must not be deadline driven and must be researched and fact checked before airing. Reporter must make a decision not to publish when the evidence doesn't warrant a story. Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Hold the powerful accountable: Use your investigative instincts to uncover corruption, waste, and injustice, telling stories that demand change in Cleveland.
Master the data:
Dive deep into spreadsheets and public records to find the "smoking gun" that others miss, turning complex data into compelling, human-centric narratives.
Build sources:
Develop and maintain a deep network of sources that gives us the inside track on the stories that matter most.
Create for every screen:
Produce high-impact content across all platforms, from traditional broadcast pieces and digital shorts to long-form documentaries and podcasts. Provide the "Why": Jump into breaking news situations to provide the deeper context and investigative "meat" that explains not just what happened, but why it happened.
Qualification/Requirements:
  • Minimum two (2) years of broadcast investigative reporting experience in a small to medium TV market.
  • Must be able to create content for all platforms.
  • Degree in journalism or related field is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
