About the Role As a Boulder Weekly writer, you'll cover a wide range of topics that matter to readers across Boulder County and beyond. From local government and community issues to arts, culture, food, business, and human-interest features, you'll produce accurate, engaging, and impactful stories that inform and inspire. Responsibilities pitch stories and generate ideas Sundance Film Festival Coverage Research, report, and write news stories and feature articles. Conduct interviews with community members, public officials, business leaders, and subject-matter experts. Attend public meetings, local events, and breaking news assignments. Verify facts and maintain the highest standards of journalistic ethics and accuracy. Collaborate with editors, photographers, and designers to produce compelling print and digital content. Meet deadlines while managing multiple assignments. Qualifications Excellent writing, reporting, and interviewing skills. Strong research and fact-checking abilities. Ability to work independently and prioritize competing deadlines. Familiarity with AP Style. Degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience. Knowledge of Boulder County and an interest in local issues is highly desirable.
