Job Description
PART-TIME PAGING STAFF
Mill Valley Public Library is looking for industrious and detail-oriented individuals to perform part-time paging services Sundays 11:15 am- 5:15 pm and Tuesdays from 5:00 pm
- 8:15 pm.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Typical duties may include but are not limited to general paging functions, e.g., shelving books, emptying book drops, keeping the stacks organized and assisting in the routine functions of preparing the library for daily opening and closing. Duties during evening events typically include moving Library furniture with assistance from colleagues, setting up and putting away folding chairs, taking a headcount and/or checking in event attendees.ESTIMATED NUMBER OF HOURS
9+ hours per week: Sundays 11:15 am- 5:15 pm Tuesdays 5:00 pm
- 8:15 pm Evening Library events when available, typically 1
- 2 events per month of 3
- 4 hours each.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Ability to accurately order items alphabetically and numerically Ability to work evenings and weekends, with some flexibility to cover shifts during the week Excellent attention to detail Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and cooperatively with library staff Ability to learn new procedures and follow written and oral instructions Lift, push, pull and/or carry boxes of books weighing up to 50 pounds; mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend to place and remove books from high book shelves up to 80 inches above floor level or from low book shelves up to 2 inches above floor levelPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Some knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system An interest in books and libraries Benefits This is a part-time, non-benefited position represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees.
