Job Description

The Lighting Sales Designer is responsible for creating customized lighting solutions while driving sales through exceptional client service. This role blends creative design expertise with strong sales skills, guiding clients from concept to completion for residential and light commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Consult with clients to understand project needs, design preferences, budgets, and timelines Design lighting plans that balance aesthetics, functionality, and energy efficiency Recommend appropriate fixtures, controls, and technologies based on project requirements Prepare detailed proposals, quotations, and specifications Manage projects from initial consultation through order placement and delivery Coordinate with contractors, architects, designers, and builders as needed Maintain knowledge of lighting products, trends, codes, and new technologies Meet or exceed individual and team sales goals Follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business Recommended Qualifications Experience in lighting sales, interior design, electrical supply, or related field Strong understanding of lighting fundamentals (layers of light, color temperature, lumens, etc.) Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills Proven ability to close sales and manage multiple projects simultaneously Proficiency with design tools, lighting software, or CAD (preferred) Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Skills & Competencies Creative problem-solving Client-focused sales approach Strong negotiation and closing skills Time management and multitasking Collaborative team mindset Work Environment & Schedule Primarily showroom-based with occasional site visits Full-time schedule Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary plus commission Benefits package may include paid holiday, paid time off, and employee discounts, 401k Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
