Job Description

Note:
This is a subcontract job. Compensation is $100 per diem. Roughly 5 hours per event.

Second Space Productions is looking for 2-3 production techs to join the 2026 park show crew! I love to work with service industry veterans for production gigs. They just get it! Keep your hands busy, always think about the guest experience, stay synced with your team.

Audiovisual experience is helpful, but not required. In lieu of experrience, a genuine interest in doing this kind or work is a must!

About the job:

Kickstand Comedy in the Park is a Portland Summer staple event. Occuring almost every Friday at Laurelhurst Park, the free standup comedy series draws enormous growds each week.

This year, we'll begin setup 2 hours before the show to set up the production village, sound check and set the vibe. Live operation is simple... muting and unmuting microphones, playing audio cues, monitoring levels and keeping up with whatever's happening on stage. Striking the event takes about an hour. We'll get faster as the season goes on! The beginning and end of the show are labor intensive, we move quickly, lift a few things, route power and audio cables, set up canopies, etc. Once the show starts, we get to relax a little and enjoy the show a little (while staying ready to troubleshoot/react).I'm looking for people who can do the full season if possible. That's the challenging part! The gig is ideal for people with no big travel plans. We'll have 2 dark Fridays in July that you could plan around, but otherwise, you'd be committing your Fridays for the whole Summer. Here's the season schedule:

June5th, 12th, 19th, 26thJuly3rd, 17th, 31st (no 10th, 24th)August7th, 14th, 21st, 28thSeptember4thWe'll schedule a pre-production meeting to get everyone caught up on the fine details.

To apply:

Submit your resume and a cover letter to let me know what projects you've worked on, your interest in production, your love for comedy, and whatever else that gets you excited about matchihng with the gig!

ThanksAV
