A Set or Exhibit Designer designs display booths or exhibits for museums, galleries or trade shows. Develops drawings and plans to accommodate the specific space, lighting and temperature requirements of materials to be exhibited; builds or supervises building of exhibits. Designs stage sets and scenery for performances, primarily for live theater performances, or sets for filmed performances or for events such as press conferences. Works with directors and producers to plan props and materials needed for a show.

Please Note:
This is NOT a Graphic Designer position! The Company Eisterhold Associates Inc. (EAI) is an exhibit planning and design firm in Kansas City, Missouri, that develops and delivers culturally significant exhibits of national caliber. More so than firms typical in our industry, we create final graphic files and interactive systems. We are a national, collaborative, interdisciplinary, creative team made up of industrial designers, graphic designers, architects, researchers, content developers, programmers, planners, and thinkers who strive to create unforgettable experiences—to transform, not simply educate. We generate surprise, excitement, and play—appealing to the lighter side, when possible, to enlighten and enliven the visitor experience. Notable projects include the Rosa Parks Museum, the August Wilson Center, National Museum of the US Army, National Museum of the Marine Corps, and the National Civil Rights Museum. EAI is seeking an experienced Exhibit Designer. The person in this position will be an integral part of the EAI creative team responsible for developing creative solutions to manifest client vision. This position blends strong client service skills with exhibit design, and experiential savvy. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Coordinate with the President and project managers assigned to the particular project. 2. Provide clear, transparent documentation so that any point, others can understand and further any or all of the above activities. 3. Coordinate with Graphic Designers and other staff and consultants to ensure design consistency, compliance with proposal requirements, and timely delivery of project proposals. 4. Communicate with clients at all stages of development. Other Considerations
  • Monday-Friday, 8 hours a day with flexibility between 7:00AM-6:00PM. Weekend hours may be required per project.
  • Less than 10% of time will be dedicated to travel. Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience with exhibit design phases (similar to architectural design phases).
  • Ability to generate plan sets to meet client deliverables.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, in writing, and through presentations.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a creative team.
  • Ability to problem-solve independently.
  • Awareness of fabrication means and methods.
  • Ability to integrate exhibit design with other disciplines (graphics, content, media).
  • Awareness of budgetary and production consequences of design decisions. Required Education and Experience
  • BA/BS/BFA or higher degree in related field, such as Graphic Design or Exhibit Design.
  • Two to four years' experience, including the use of AutoCAD, Revit or other modelling software for architectural drafting and/or exhibit detailing.
  • Experience with the most current technologies and products used in design industries. Preferred Education and Experience
  • A solid understanding of fabrication and graphic production techniques.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with AV production and integration of AV equipment.
