Job Description

Engineering Technical Writer About the Role We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technical Writer to support the development and maintenance of technical documentation for complex engineering and mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineers, technical leads, and cross-functional stakeholders to create clear, accurate, and standards-compliant documentation for a variety of technical audiences. Key Responsibilities Develop, revise, and maintain engineering documentation, including: Technical Procedure Manuals Test Requirement Documents (TRDs) User Manuals Programming Manuals Service Manuals Operational Specifications Other technical publications Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand documentation. Coordinate and oversee the preparation of illustrations, diagrams, charts, and other visual content. Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure documentation accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards. Publish and maintain content across multiple formats, including print, electronic, interactive, and structured documentation. Collaborate with engineers, subject matter experts, technical leads, and instructors to develop system and sensor documentation. Perform desktop publishing tasks for reports, white papers, technical articles, presentations, and project documentation. Research and compile information from technical and engineering sources to create structured documentation. Ensure documentation aligns with industry best practices and established technical writing standards. Support additional documentation and communication initiatives as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline, Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent military operations and maintenance experience with radar, communications, electro-optics, networking, information technology, or related sensor systems. Engineering, technical, or military systems experience. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of engineering or technical writing experience. 2+ years of experience with structured authoring tools such as: Arbortext MadCap Flare Adobe FrameMaker Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100). Experience with structured content standards and technologies, including:
XML SGML HTML S1000D DITA
Experience developing documentation for complex engineering, aerospace, defense, communications, or mission systems.
