Medical Writer (Oncology) - Part-Time, Short-Term

Kelly Government Solutions is a strategic supplier and business partner to the federal government and its key suppliers. Through our partnership with the National Institutes of Health, Kelly Government Solutions offers administrative, IT, engineering, scientific, and healthcare professionals the opportunity to work with the leading medical research center in the world. We are seeking an individual for a short-term, part-time contract opportunity as a Medical Writer (Oncology) to support the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

DETAILS/LOGISTICS
  • Short-term project (estimated December 2026 - June 2027)
  • Part-time work schedule (up to 24 hours/week)
  • Fully remote (US-based only; requires availability during Eastern Time (ET))
  • W-2 for tax purposes plus 401(k) contribution based on hours worked
KEY TASKS

(1) Provide medical and science writing and editing support to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD) including documents describing research updates, accomplishments, and future endeavors and initiatives.(2) Support the development and revision of clinical trial protocols, informed consent documents, protocol amendments, annual reviews and other regulatory submissions for clinical studies of investigational new drugs at the NIH Clinical Center.(3) Analyze, organize, and interpret scientific and clinical information, including literature and study findings, to prepare accurate reports, summaries, manuscripts, publications, posters, presentations, and briefing materials.(4) Research, write, and edit scientific and technical content for peer-reviewed journal articles, book manuscripts and chapters, conference and symposium materials, reports, fact sheets, brochures, speeches, press releases, blog posts, digital media, and other print or electronic materials.(5) Coordinate with research and study teams to develop outlines, abstracts, manuscripts, and other materials for submission to journals, conferences, symposiums, and book publishers.(6) Provide editorial quality control, including proofreading and verifying the scientific and technical accuracy, clarity, completeness, consistency, and submission readiness of documents.(7) Perform reviews of scientific and technical literature to identify methodologies, findings and conclusions of significance to assist with the preparation of summaries and reports for research and medical staff.(8) Advise and support researchers and staff on scientific and technical writing, publication requirements, document formats, and effective communication of research findings.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

(1) Ph.D. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, Pharmacology, Genetics, Immunology, or related discipline

(2) Minimum of three (3) years of medical writing experience focused on clinical and basic research

(3) Understanding of technical scientific terms and concepts related to cancer biology, cancer research, and clinical research

(4) Experience writing, editing, and communicating technical ideas to various audiences and translating scientific language into plain language
