Big Valley Auto Auction is hiring an experienced Condition Report Writer to inspect, scan, photograph, and accurately document vehicles before auction. This is an active outdoor position. Applicants must be prepared to remain on their feet for most of the workday and work outside in changing weather conditions, including South Texas heat, cold, wind, and light rain.

Responsibilities:

Scan vehicle VINs, barcodes, and inventory labels using a handheld scanner or mobile device. Inspect vehicles and accurately document their overall condition. Identify and record interior, exterior, mechanical, and cosmetic damage. Take clear photographs of vehicles and visible damage. Verify VINs, mileage, vehicle options, features, keys, and inventory information. Enter accurate vehicle information into the appropriate system. Ensure assigned vehicles are scanned, inspected, photographed, and completed by established deadlines. Report missing vehicles, incorrect information, damage, or inventory discrepancies to the supervisor. Safely drive, move, and park different types of vehicles when required. Follow all company safety procedures. Assist with other lot and auction duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Previous experience as a Condition Report Writer, vehicle inspector, or in a similar automotive auction, dealership, or vehicle-inventory position is required. Vehicle scanning and inspection experience is required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Must be comfortable driving different makes, models, and sizes of vehicles. Must know how to identify and accurately document vehicle damage. Must be comfortable using a smartphone, tablet, handheld scanner, or computer. Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Must be dependable and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to stand and walk for most of the workday. Must be able to frequently enter and exit vehicles and bend, reach, crouch, or kneel during inspections. Must be willing and able to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
