The project is fully developed at franchise scale, with worldbuilding, production design, and visual identity built to support multiple future installments. The Director of Photography will be a core creative collaborator, not a technical vendor. The DP will work directly with the Director to establish the franchise's visual language, including palette, lighting philosophy, lens strategy, and compositional grammar. The choices made in this film will define the look of all future entries. This role is suited for a cinematographer with significant feature‑film experience, strong visual authorship, and the ability to lead a large camera and lighting team across complex environments. Section 2 — Position Overview The DP reports directly to the Director and holds full creative and technical authority over the image. Responsibilities span pre‑production through final color grade, including: Visual language development Camera and lighting department leadership Format, lens, and camera system selection Pre‑production testing and LUT development Multi‑unit visual consistency Collaboration with VFX, Production Design, and Colorist Location scouting and feasibility assessment Budget stewardship Participation in DI and final grade This production will operate as an IATSE Local 600 signatory. Practical sources (fire, industrial fixtures, ambient planetary light) anchor the fantastical world in tactile realism.
Color is selective and meaningful:
ambers/golds for the ancient and human; cyans/blue‑greens for the technological and alien. True blacks are a signature element. Wide anamorphic framing with significant negative space and environmental scale is the default grammar. The aesthetic aims for operatic chiaroscuro and mythological grandeur, balancing intimate character moments with epic scale. The DP must bring a strong visual voice capable of serving a large, emotionally complex universe. Section 6 —
