VIDEO EDITING AND GRAPHIC DESIGN
In this contracting role for Mystery Science, you'll curate impactful visuals, edit videos, create graphics, and implement feedback to make science relatable and fun for our students. Clarity of visualization is of the utmost importance. You must be able to see through the eyes of a child who might not have certain background knowledge and understanding. You must interpret and implement our brand style for different grade levels and classroom settings. A collaborative spirit and an openness to feedback are a must.VISUAL RESEARCH IS AS IMPORTANT AS THE EDITING
We lean into real-world imagery that makes kids say "WOW!" while adhering to factual accuracy. We curate video clips and images using a variety of sources, including stock sites, Creative Commons, public domain, science literature, and the wider internet, paying close attention to our rights and clearances policies. REAL is always best, but illustration, animation, and Photoshop can be used if it is the clearest visual explanation of a concept. Illustrations or animations must be age-appropriate and not stylistically distracting. We never use AI-generated imagery, outside of minor photo touch-ups or the occasional fantastical scenario that is tangential to the science topic.EXAMPLE VIDEOS

REQUIREMENTS
- Reside in and have the legal right to work in the United States or the United Kingdom
- Proficiency in and access to Adobe CC (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, etc) and editing equipment
- Educational storytelling and design experience preferred
- Visual research experience with basic awareness of rights and clearances
- Cultural awareness and inclusivity in content creation
- Strong sense of humor and creative playfulness
- Filming and production experience a plus
